Its 2024 re-release further cemented its popularity, emerging as one of the highest-grossing Indian re-releases and creating new benchmarks for the film. Now, as anticipation continues to build around Tumbbad 2, fans are eager to see the world of the folklore fantasy return on a much grander scale. The sequel is expected to take the story and its visual spectacle forward with an ambitious vision.
As Tumbbad approaches its 8th anniversary on October 12, actor and producer Sohum Shah took to his social media to express his gratitude to the fans who have kept the world of Hastar alive in popular culture.
Shah shared a special note expressing how touched he is by the endless support, fan art, and love the audience continues to pour into the film year after year.
Celebrating this landmark milestone and the passionate fanbase that made Tumbbad a timeless cinematic milestone, Sohum posted a creative graphic featuring a personal message:

The initiative allows the cinema community to directly engage with the creator who brought one of Indian cinema's most visually stunning and original genre films to life. With fans eager to see what Sohum Shah has in store with Tumbbad 2, this anniversary gesture has only added to the excitement around the franchise's expanding universe.
Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by actor-producer Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The film is directed by Adesh Prasad, who is helming the highly anticipated next chapter of the Tumbbad universe. Pen Studios, known for backing blockbuster films such as RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi, joins hands to bring the film to life on a grand cinematic scale. Tumbbad 2 is slated to release in cinemas on 3rd December 2027.
